Sh. Suprakash Adhikari

Shri Suprakash Adhikari, Director (Technical), NHPC Limited has assumed the additional charge of Director (Projects), SJVN Limited, on 12th May 2026 in pursuance of Ministry of Power order dated 12.05.2026.

Shri Adhikari holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Engineering, Science and Technology, Shibpur (formerly B.E. College, Shibpur). He started his professional career in NHPC Limited as a Probationary Executive (Electrical) in December 1990.

Shri Suprakash Adhikari has over 36 years of rich and varied experience in the implementation of hydro projects, covering all areas of hydropower development from inception to commissioning, as well as Operation and Maintenance (O&M), aligned with the Government of India’s Net Zero ambition.

Presently, Shri Adhikari is serving as Director (Technical) of NHPC Limited, India’s premier hydropower utility and a Navratna Enterprise of the Government of India, since 16.04.2025. Prior to joining the NHPC Board, he headed several crucial divisions as Executive Director. He also chairs the Board of Bundelkhand Saur Urja Limited, a Joint Venture of NHPC and UPNEDA.

As Head of the O&M Division, NHPC Ltd., Shri Adhikari led key operational excellence initiatives, improved maintenance planning and enhanced plant performance, resulting in record annual generation, highest-ever PAF and reduced forced outages. He also held additional charge of the Design (E&M) Division, where his technical expertise and leadership contributed significantly to the design and engineering of E&M packages for NHPC’s hydro and pumped storage projects, including the successful commissioning of the 800 MW Parbati-II Hydro Electric Project and four units (4 x 250 MW) of Subansiri Lower HE Project (2000 MW) and successful commissioning of 300 MW Solar Power Plant at Bikaner to support NHPC's diversification strategy.

Earlier, as Head of NHPC’s Projects/Power Station of 540 MW Chamera-I, 120 MW Sewa-II, 45 MW Nimoo Bazgo, 132 MW TLD-III and 60 MW Rangit Power Station, Shri Adhikari played a key role in improving process efficiency and resolving long-pending plant issues through strategic leadership. He also successfully led the restoration of the completely damaged Head Race Tunnel (HRT) of Sewa-II Power Station, with the re-tunnelling work completed ahead of schedule, a significant engineering milestone.
